Aspire brings you the top 4 emerging home tech trends that will find their way into South West London homes in the near future.

Do you ever feel you’ve just got used to a new piece of technology when something fresh is launched? We know the feeling so to ensure you feel connected with what’s coming next, here are the next home tech trends coming your way.

  1. Voice-activated tech – most of us are already familiar with telling Alexa or Siri to play music but the recreational abilities of voice control are moving to the practical. Light bulbs, central heating thermostats, curtains, kettles and even door locks can be operated by the sound of your voice and are becoming more mainstream.
  2. Robots – you may already have a Dyson 360 Eye or iRobot Roomba cleaning your floors but there will be other more sophisticated home help robots joining these soon. Already in production are robots with arms and fingers that are programmed to tidy up, operate machines and even service drinks, while robot gardeners will automatically monitor the weather and seasons to perform mowing, planting and weeding.
  3. The Internet of Things – this means connecting everything – not just phones, computers and tablets – to the internet. One of the easiest examples to understand is the fridge. How brilliant would it be if your fridge automatically added food that had gone past its use-by date or wasn’t replenished to your online supermarket order? That’s what the Internet of Things can already do.
  4. 5G – the fifth generation of mobile networks are not that far away, and it promises faster and more reliable connections in the home. The good new is London is first on the list of the 5G rollout, with EE launching a 5G Home router with external antenna at some point during 2019, showcasing the power of 5G for broadband.
